~ Pork-A-Palooza ~
Friday started at our house with great anticipation... Jim and Tina were coming this afternoon and we must be ready! Grocery store.... got a slew of eatin's.. but wouldn't you know it? We FORGOT the BACON!! omg.. Jim will die without his bacon... so.. when they finally got here and met everyone.
A side trip to Chattahoochee to the closest grocery store.. the IGA., yep, they are still in business in our neck of the weeds.. uh woods. It's a 12 mile trip, but I took them on a bit of a sight-seeing tour while we were at it... lots of photos later, we arrive back at Serenole Lodge.
Jackson and Cody were already pickin and grinnin' when we got there. They played for us in the kitchen while Z and T whipped us up some great vittles. While stuff was in the oven, we had us a bonfire out back and proceeded to sing our butts off to whatever the boys wanted to play.
After eating, we all felt like stuffed sausages.. but brews and spiked lemonade quickly found their way into that little bit of space left in our bellies. We finally called it a night somewhere around midnight. They were tired from their drive.. I was tired trying to haul around this cast on my leg all day. *sigh*
The next morning I woke to the heavenly smells of BACON!! OMG... was that breakfast delicious!! If you've never had his breakfast casserole, you haven't eaten a BACON filled morning!
After filling our bellies, yet again, we armed ourselves with guns and ammo and proceeded to the clay pits to do some serious shooting. Even the Trolls seemed to like it.. although Zeebers embarrassed himself by not being able to 'hold his gun'... I think Zorra was OK with it,.. but he was just beside himself.
We got back to the house and rested a bit and got ready to go out for the night. We headed to Fowlstown first.. the home of some good friends of mine.. they raise pet chickens.. an apt hobby for someone who lives in Fowlstown!
After a short stop there, we headed on into Tally town and "You know where, Barnacle Bill's on North Monroe"...THE best seafood in town, without a doubt. We all had different types of appetizers and shared them.
Food in our bellies, we headed on over to The Mockingbird Cafe to hear some seriously great live music by The New 76ers.. an eclectic bluegrass/folk/Americana group with a fabulous new video out. We had a reserved table fairly close to the stage and of course I took lots of photos of them.
We shared four different types of dessert and more drinks.. the Jack Daniels Creme' de Brulle' was awesome!! We stayed for the first half of the show and decided to head back to the lake before it got too late.
Once there we sat at the bonfire a while chewing the fat and shooting the breeze... all of a sudden I felt like I was gonna keel over if I didn't get to my bed soon. Tina beat me to bed.. I left Jackson and Z out by the fire and I have no idea how long they stayed up.
The morning brought us all down in the kitchen making pancakes with deer sausage. Cane syrup and good coffee made it all go down sooo good!!
After cleaning up from breakfast, they finished packing the car with the goodies we sent back with them and took some final photos.
We really had a great time together and hope we can do this again really soon!
Tina, you are now officially a Georgia girl.. cause you got et up with skeeter bites and lived to tell the tale! Jim, you are just the bomb! Like my "yard brothers" I grew up with... Ya'll come back now... ya heah?
well ..now yer talkin, guns and lottsa good food... :)
